Unfortunately, in the US gambling capital – Las Vegas – one more gambling establishment stopped its activity. On May 4 Riviera Hotel & Casino has closed its doors. Note that it is one of the oldest gambling establishments. Very soon, this casino could celebrate its 60th anniversary.
It was opened in 1955 and was the witness of such famous performers as Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Marlene Dietrich, Harry Belafonte, Barbra Streisand, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Hope, Orson Welles, Liberace and the Village People.

“The Riv” tried to escape the bankruptcy, but it was difficult to do this after such giants as the Bellagio, the Mandalay Bay and the Mirage appeared.

Last month, the organization’s leadership Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority bought the 26-acre property in February for 182.5 million US dollars. In total, the company plans to invest CA$ 2.3 billion in a major project of the American gambling capital. The purchase of Riviera Hotel Casino is just one part of this plan. A few years ago, it was one of the favorite places for poker players in the United States. Therefore, six tables for poker were established there. However, in 2013, the room for a game of poker was closed.
The representative of the institution told the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “We appreciate that our clients are going through the casino, thank you for your loyalty and care. Since 1954, our institution has served faithfully. We also want to thank our employees, who have worked hard and allowed the visitors to get an unforgettable experience of the game. We are confident that this memory will remain for years to come even after closing. “
